You don’t need ANY art skills. You’ll go home with the ability to use this method to recreate YOU as a Well Being.

Actually, you can! You’re going to be given your very own magic wand in the form of a custom-made, special tone tuning fork. I’ll show you how to use it to relieve stress, bring a state of calm naturally and overall fine tune your body, mind and soul. AND, and it’s yours to take home!

Art and Sound are two very powerful and natural tools that have been scientifically proven to change your stress into calm and bring balance back into your life.

Are you tired of traditional methods of feeling better like therapy and pills, antidepressants and wish you could feel better naturally?

Science is finally catching up with the spiritual aspects of life and recognizing the healing properties of art, sound and nature. The Venue

Your Well Being retreat begins in the heart of the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. Nestled among towering pines, this nostalgic “Up North” resort exudes a rustic charm that instantly makes you feel at home. The resort, owned and operated by the same family since 1935, spans across 35 acres and is renowned for hosting world-class artist workshops throughout the summer and fall.

As you step into the authentic log lodge, built in the 1940s and filled with history and charm, you’ll find yourself in a safe haven and comfort zone that you won’t want to leave. With eight rooms, each boasting its own private bathroom and accessible from the central corridor, this guesthouse is perfect for your Well Being retreat.

The beautiful knotty pine interior exudes a rich warm glow that envelopes you like a big hug. There’s a shared common living room, fully equipped kitchen with two full-sized refrigerators, glassed-in dining porch bringing nature up close and personal. The outdoor area features a grilling patio, private fire ring, and picnic tables providing the perfect space for our intimate gatherings and creating a sense of community.  Feel free to explore the expansive grounds following the meandering paved paths.

The charming resort is nestled on a peninsula jutting out into the pristine waters of a crystal-clear lake in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. The timing of this retreat couldn’t be better as the explosion of stunning fall colors will be at their peak while you’re here.

Mother Nature truly does know what’s best for you and the Northwoods of Wisconsin are one of her most stunning accomplishments. The bursting fall colors, crisp clean air, the towering pines and the clear pristine waters of the lake are just a taste of the healing beauty she offers here.

Deep in the woods is the perfect place to explore your inner self with the help of art, sound and nature. You’ll feel rejuvenated and excited to have discovered a natural way of being that is good for your mind, body and soul. You’ll become a Well Being here.

But not to worry, know that you’ll have the luxury of ample free time to unwind, relax and to just do nothing but sit by the lake and let the world go by. You’ll feel so relaxed, connected and content enjoying these moments of solitude.

Massage, yoga and private sound and art healing sessions will be available. You can even rent a fishing boat!

The Cuisine

Sharon, a fabulous home cook, will be serving up delectable comfort foods and autumnal favorites, including savory soups and stews. Her mac & cheese, made with locally-sourced cheese is so gooey good! At the Well Being retreat, the farm-to-table cuisine is more than just nourishing your body, it’s also a sensory indulgence and a culinary adventure like no other. Sharon’s passion and expertise for creating wholesome and flavorful meals will have you eagerly looking forward to each one, anticipating the next mouthwatering dish. Comfort food at its finest.

And what’s better than savoring the delicate taste of locally caught fish, cooked to perfection and served with care? To top it all off, Sharon’s desserts are legendary. She has 2 secret ingredients that she loves to drizzle over delectable creations, adding a touch of sweetness to every meal. Here’s a hint… one buzzes and the other comes from a tree!

Sharon’s recipe for her hearty stew made with locally raised grass beef and garden fresh veggies in a rich and savory sauce is a treat for the taste buds, sooo delicious!  Her fresh fall vegetable soups and fresh salads are a true feast for the senses and showcase the best of the region’s culinary bounty.

Oh, the bread! It’s a culinary masterpiece created by the master bread maker, Pride. He’s a true local artisan who crafts an array of delectable choices that will leave you craving for more. His rustic round loaves, with their crispy crusts and melt-in-your-mouth insides, are a true delight for the senses. And his honey wheat bread? It’s simply heavenly, made with organic flour that Pride grinds himself.

The Journey

An important component of the retreat that I’ll be introducing you to is my gentle, heart-centered L.O.V.E. aka “Lines Of Vibrational Energy” drawing therapy that I personally developed. Drawing with L.O.V.E. is a way to shine a light on and work through challenges you may have including family issues, frustrations, stress, bad habits you can’t seem to beat and things that make you unhappy or sad.

The L.O.V.E. Drawing sessions will take place in the unique Round Studio. The many windows in this art space will afford you stunning nature views that nurture inspiration, creativity and joy. Your L.O.V.E. drawings will be very intuitive and personal expressions of YOU and they will be beautiful. You’ll be using  a variety of art supplies with the star being magical alcohol inks! The studio will be available to you 24/7 so whenever you hear your soul knocking, you can answer with your art.

“Drawing with L.O.V.E. has provided a peaceful place for me to let go. Relief as well as inspiration! I felt my creativity stifled and stuck until you introduced me to this art form. A place to be free, flowing and connected. I love it!”

~ K. May

Sound Massage! Another important component of the retreat are the “fine tuning” sessions you’ll experience using tuning forks. These special forks sound at the frequencies of the ancient, sacred and healing Solfeggio tones. The tones correspond to your body’s energy centers or chakras and will bring you to a deeper level of awareness, kinship and gratitude. A vibrational massage is sooo incredibly relaxing and healing. I truly believe tuning forks will be in every medicine cabinet someday!

And there’s SO many resort activities to enjoy! How about taking a kayak, canoe or paddle boat out on the lake to explore the 12 miles of beautiful shoreline? Just imagine the colors of fall exploding all around you. Or maybe hiking and biking are more to your liking. There’s lots of trails to explore and they’re close by. Tennis anyone? There’s tennis courts too!

You’ll be enjoying a bagged lunch and breathtaking scenery on the group pontoon boat ride around the lake. Feeling lucky? Maybe in your free time you’d like to try your hand at a slot machine or two at the casino that’s only 15 minutes away. There’s also a quaint little town nearby that is home to an art gallery, jewelry store and gift shops. The perfect place to find special gifts and souvenirs!

“I could hardly sleep last night I have PTSD. I searched for peace through creativity. I put my struggle down on paper using the LOVE method of drawing. It helps me to handle my struggles, and slowly I can feel myself becoming more independent and balanced.”

~ L Brown

During your free day on October 6, you can spend the day on the self guided Northwoods Art Tour. This is a much anticipated free annual event. There are multiple artists’ studios within a 30-minute drive of the lodge. You’ll get a special behind the scenes look at private art studios and have the opportunity to buy these talented artists’ original creations.

Another highlight of the retreat will be a visit to Little Girl’s Point on the shores of majestic Lake Superior. While there, you’ll stroll the beach totally engaging all of your senses while collecting rocks, driftwood or whatever catches your eye. You’ll transform these treasures into a beautiful keepsake when we have our Craft Creation day back at the lodge. Fun! Playing like a 5 year old!

Throughout the retreat, you also have the opportunity to partake in private activities that nourish your body, mind, and spirit. You may choose to reserve time for a private sound healing session, massage or yoga.

You may also indulge in moments of quiet reflection, meditation, or simply bask in the beauty of nature’s wonders. This is your time to relax, recharge and fine tune becoming the Well Being you were always meant to be.

The shared meals during the Well Being retreat will be a time of warmth, connection, and nourishment for your body and soul. It’s an opportunity to create fond memories, build friendships, and indulge in the simple joy of good food and heartwarming company.

S’More’s anyone?! The evening campfire gatherings will be a time for storytelling and laughter. You’ll have the chance to share your own stories, listen to others, and find common ground. Laughter and joy will be abundant, creating cherished memories and moments of pure delight. The connections formed around the campfire can blossom into lasting friendships that extend beyond the retreat. You’ll have the opportunity to build a community of supportive friends who share your interests and passions, providing you with a network of like-minded individuals even after the retreat ends.

The Location

The Lac du Flambeau area is home to the band of the native Ojibwa tribe. These are sacred lands holding much energy and history. The band has inhabited the Lac du Flambeau area since 1745 when Chief Keeshkemun led the band to the area.

The band has inhabited the Lac du Flambeau area since 1745 when Chief Keeshkemun led the band to the area. The band acquired the name Lac du Flambeau from its gathering practice of harvesting fish at night by torchlight. The name Lac du Flambeau or Lake of the Torches refers to this practice and was given to the band by the French traders and trappers who visited the area.

The Lac du Flambeau Reservation was officially established by treaties in 1837 and 1842. The area was continually logged in the following years and became a tourist destination for families from southern Wisconsin and Illinois around the turn of the century.

To increase economic activity and foster self-reliance among the various Native American communities, the tribe began bingo and casino operations. Revenues generated by the casino operations would go to the tribe and directly benefit the economic and social development of the community. The casino has enhanced both the economy of the Lakeland area and to provide public services to residents in Lac du Flambeau

I'm ready to go...

Trip Leader ~ Denise Johnson

At 70 years young, I embrace life with a spirit of adventure and a passion for having fun. While my journey has been long and sometimes dizzying, it has been a rich and fulfilling spiritual quest that has brought me to this moment with a heart based mission of importance.

My path took an unexpected turn when a psychic reading revealed that I possess great power and that people would flock to my teachings. Really?  I was surprised, as I never saw myself as a teacher or very powerful having only a high school education and some college courses but no degree. In high school I was introduced to clay and the potter’s wheel. From there I pursued that creative passion for the next 35 years, selling my creations at shows and simply enjoying the process.

But in 2010, my world was flipped upside down. I was forced out of my job, my husband had to close his hot dog stand business and being at the age that we were, we couldn’t find jobs. We had to get creative!

Somehow we came up with the idea of making and selling Corian cutting boards. Corian is a material usually reserved for countertops, but it also makes a great cutting board. So that’s what we did. We started out by selling at farmers markets then craft shows. We were actually making a living!

Around the same time in 2010, I stumbled upon the new medium of alcohol inks. Their vibrant colors, unpredictably and sheer magic captivated my entire being and I was hooked and still am to this day.

But here’s the crazy part. Alcohol inks perform best on a non porous surface and guess what… Corian was a non pourous surface and I had a supply of it at my fingertips. It’s the perfect substrate and that’s what I have painted my original pieces on ever since! For the last 10 years, I’ve been teaching alcohol ink workshops across the U.S., and as predicted by that psychic, people flocked to them!

Then, in January of 2022, another discovery came my way – something called neurographic drawing. Intrigued, I delved deep into the science and spirituality behind it, which ultimately led to the development of my own drawing method called L.O.V.E. (Lines Of Vibrational Energy). The acronym was truly a divine gift, as this method has proved to be healing, simple, beautiful, and transformative.

As I continue to grow and expand my knowledge of alternative ways to heal, I’ve added sound healing to my toolkit, making this Well Being retreat the very first of its kind offering both art and sound as ways of healing naturally.

I am thrilled to share my unique blend of creative expression, spiritual exploration, and natural healing modalities with others in a beautiful and nurturing environment.

Alcohol inks and L.O.V.E. drawing are such a dynamic pairing and adding sound healing is even more transformational. It is truly an honor to offer something this special and transformational to those who seek a holistic approach to wellness and self-care. I am excited to embark on this new chapter and share the joy of my journey with all who join me on this path to becoming a Well Being.

My core belief is that we are all more powerful than we’ve been led to believe. We are able to heal ourselves. Through my scientific research and spiritual exploration I believe each and every one of us has this innate ability. Believing in yourself and listening to your heart is the key to becoming a Well Being.

I invite you to join me.
